Bridget Ferrill & Áslaug Magnúsdóttir & Olivia Rivière

A world premiere supported by SHAPE+, featuring the long-distance duo of Bridget Ferrill & Áslaug Magnúsdóttir and Copenhagen-based choreographer/dancer Olivia Riviere, based on a residency held at Inkonst this year.

The release of the duo’s collaborative album Woodwind Quintet (Subtext, 2022) showcased their exploration of the complexity of composition by fracturing, deconstructing and interweaving classical elements in intimate and unexpected arrangements. The Berlin-based Ferrill is a composer, engineer, and synthesizer builder, as well as a SHAPE+ platform artist. By venturing into the realm of extended instruments, handmade electronics and experimental computer music, she explores the interface between noise and composition. Copenhagen’s Áslaug Magnúsdóttir approaches instruments as a sculptor, pushing the boundaries of conventional music while also engaging in music programming, constructing interactive systems characterized by noise-based behaviors.

Alongside the physicality of dance, Rivière engages with unconventional vocal techniques, delving into their materiality and exploring their sensory impact. This has played out in a series of works created together with Lisen Pousette. She is also part of Copenhagen’s DANSEatelier, which explores new forms of production in the field of dance.
