Zesknel
The alias of Georgian musician Zurab Babunashvili, Zesknel focuses on live improvisation ranging from slowly evolving textured soundscapes to drum-oriented polymetric explorations to looped vocal manipulations. A resident of the famed Tbilisi club Bassiani – where his live sets can extend for hours – as well as the radio platform Mutant Radio, his mix of unpredictable disruptions are integrated into ephemeral perceptions and rhythmic adventures, creating a borderless ritualistic unity. A member of this year’s SHAPE+ platform, Zesknel focuses on air vibrating with full-frequency spectrum intuitive sounds, for intuitive, absurd and occasionally noisy catharsis.
