Four floors up from Inkonst, at Inter Arts Center, an acousmonium made up of more than 40 speakers hosts concerts of acousmatic music, along with collateral events including workshops, performances, and screenings, featuring two premieres. This year's special focus is on the French composer Luc Ferrari, exploring the intersection of music, sound art, documentary, and radio art.

Sound Circuits

Workshop

with Bridget Ferrill,

Áslaug Magnúsdóttir,

and Olivia Rivière

In addition to their world premiere performance, the artists, musicians, and dancer/choreographer present this special workshop. Ferrill herself is also an accomplished front of house sound technician – working regularly with the artists like Bendik Giske, Caterina Barbieri, and others – with plenty of experience in building her own modular synthesizers, among other electronics.

In this workshop, you will learn the basics of electronics and leave with your own DIY synthesizer. Learn circuitry fundamentals, how to identify components, and decipher schematics, putting your new knowledge into practice by building a simple square wave oscillator with room for expansion and customization. Free but limited to 10 people, and advance sign-up is required. Minimum age for participation is 12 years (this age of pre-teen allowed if they’re precocious). Expected length is 3 hours and materials are provided.
