Holly Herndon’s music is as hard to pin down as herself. She’s a Stanford academic studying composition and a highly conceptual producer, yet there’s nothing detached or overly scholastic about her music. On the contrary, the sounds coming out of Herndon’s laptop and own vocal cords are communicative, relatable and sincere. “I think you can have ideas about your music and you can have something that are visceral and immediately impactful as well. For me that’s kind of the Holy Grail”, Herndon said at an artist talk recently. As this statement corresponds perfectly with Intonal’s philosophy, we’re especially proud to host one of the multi-layered artist’s few appearances in Europe this year.
