One of the most celebrated experimental musicians these last few years is back with a new project called Red Clouds, centred around gas clouds of ‘Artificial Stupidity’ that have been exiled to the planet Upsilon Andromedae b. No, we won’t explain that any further. The Amerindian artist’s music is a form of storytelling in itself, drawing on various Andean styles together with genres like metal, psychedelic & jazz fusion. The Wire said it best: Crampton is “…able to synthesize numerous musical forms, crashing timbres, dense percussion, mauled samples, pretty synth lines, club music structures dismantled from within, and much more, into bold music rich with purpose and feeling.” To say that we’re excited would be an understatement.
