One and a half year ago, when covering a festival at Wysing Arts Centre in Cambridge, The Guardian crowned Beatrice Dillon “British techno’s brightest prospect”. Ironically, this is saying way too little. To contain Dillon within the boundaries of techno – or any other genre for that matter – is simply not doable. Rather, the producer, composer and matchless mixtape constructor is a Livingstone-esque explorer of rhythm and sound. Beatrice Dillon’s mixes are an esoteric antidote to orthodoxy, tracing the fringes and the vaults for sounds lesser heard, from wayward techno to vintage Folkways. With highly acclaimed releases on The Trilogy Tapes and Where To Now? as well as DJ and mixtape collaborations with artists like Kassem Mosse and Ben Ufo, Beatrice Dillon’s performance at Intonal is sure to be as brilliant as unpredictable.
